A Sedbergh glider belonging to 635 Gliding School. The Gliding School opened at Burtonwood in 1959 and was commanded by Flight Lieutenant Bryan Trunkfield RAFVR(T). The school remained at Burtonwood until 1984 when the runways were removed. Photograph provided by Steven Dowd

Heritage Centre Announcement Owing to staff shortages the Heritage Centre will not be open during weekdays. If you would like to visit during the week please telephone 07855 499798. The Centre will be open at weekends from 12:00 to 16:00 both Saturday and Sunday. |
